Listing Information

If you have been waiting for a fantastic sale with investment quality antiques, this is the sale for you.  Being offered is the estate of a well-known and respected antiques dealer in Lorretto, VA.  Most of these items have been tucked away for decades and are now being offered for sale.  Items being offered span from the 16th century to the present day.  There are a number of high quality regional Virginia items, including an early 18th century map of Virginia, two late 18th century Mark Catesby VA bird prints, several pieces of period furniture, an early and large convex eagle miror, and a large selection of decorated gray stoneware.  Other particular items of note include a 16th century painting of Petrarch, an early 19th century Scottish case clock by John Dickman with beautiful double conch shell inlay, an early Seth Thomas wooden-works clock with paw feet in working condition, a mid 19th century large wooden eagle with original gesso paint, an early 20th century Native American weather vane, and a beautifully restored baby grand piano by Lindeman and Sons.  Also included are several original pieces of art including a large paper mache frog by Sergio Bustamante (complete with certificate of authenticity) and paintings by Elliott Thompson (who is represented in the Smithsonian), Gregory Hull, and many others.  Also represented is a selection of early ceramics, including a large late 18th century transferware platter by William and John Turner, early Chinese porcelain, and a variety of faience.  There is a large selection of collector books (some rare) and regional VA books.  There is beautiful early 19th wrought iron French chandelier.  Most items come complete with provenance as documented by the owner.

You will want to attend to see all of the great items.  Above is just a partial list.  There will also be sterling silver (including two mint julep cups), gold and costume jewelry, Hummel figurines, a large collection of Henn pottery, a Curtis Jere geese wall plaque, a large Steuben vase, early hand-woven rugs, a set of Lenox china, a signed Stickley secretary, a Troy Built Generator, a Thule roof-mount luggage carrier, and numerous tools and household items. Address will be released the day prior to the sale.  We will include signs to direct you once you turn off the main road as the property is down a long drive-way.  It is a beautiful setting, right on the Rappahannock River.
