Bid online now through Thursday, October 9th at alderferauction.com.  This auction will begin closing at 8 PM at a rate of 5 lots per minute. Active bidding will be auto-extended 3 minutes for each lot once it begins to close.

Clothing forms the foundation of the sale, beginning with ladies’ two-piece outfits from the 1850s to the 1890s in cotton, silk, and velvet. These include serge suits with braid trim, cotton dresses with fitted bodices, and richly pleated skirts. Early 20th-century attire is represented by 1920s crepe and beaded dresses, drop-waist gowns, embroidered cotton pieces, and velvet ensembles, followed by 1930s crepe and tulle evening dresses. Wedding fashions span decades, from a 1940s satin gown with coronet headpiece to 1950s satin gowns with veils and 1960s appliqued nylon gowns. Supporting garments include petticoats, hoop skirts, slips, crinolines, nightgowns, and shawls, while accessories extend to moiré handbags, aprons, and hat boxes from Lord & Taylor, Lit Brothers, Oppenheim Collins, and Paris Originals.

Men’s clothing and accessories include wool vests and tuxedos, along with an array of hats: beaver top hats by John Wanamaker and Dobbs, felt and velvet hats labeled Knox and Pierre Balmain, and bowler hats from Stetson and Penn-Craft and an assortment of men’s vintage silk and wool neck ties by Christian Dior and Brooks Brothers. Swimwear lots trace styles from the 1900s full-length cotton bathing suits to wool knit swimsuits, patterned swim dresses, and poolside wear. Children’s and infant clothing include embroidered gowns, coats, bonnets, shoes, and velvet-trimmed outfits, reflecting family dress across generations.

The catalog also offers a wide range of hats for women, including silk, velvet, felt, fur, feathered, and straw designs, with makers such as John Wanamaker, Katherine Jackson of Haddon Hall, Frank Olive, and Strawbridge & Clothier.

Beyond clothing, the auction spans ceramics and decorative arts, including Johann Haviland Bavarian porcelain dinnerware, Pyrex and Fire King glassware, German salt-glazed stoneware jars, spongeware and redware bowls, slipware and earthenware vessels. Decorative objects include Luke Adams art glass, stained glass table lamps, brass candlesticks, a carved wood relief panel, and Chinese lacquered stools and garden seats.

Toys and collectibles appear throughout, including Gilbert American Flyer trains, die-cast vehicles, tin toys, cast iron toys, dollhouses, and model airplane engines. Seasonal lots feature mid-century Halloween blow molds of ghosts, witches, skeletons, gargoyles, haunted houses, and pumpkins, Don Featherstone Thanksgiving decorations, vintage Christmas ornaments and books, and Easter blow mold eggs.

Ephemera and memorabilia include Victorian photo albums, stereoview cards, postcards, political memorabilia, Masonic collectibles, advertising, and Black Americana collections, along with sports trading cards and framed sports prints. Household and miscellaneous entries range from a Franklin Mint coin collection to watch parts and tools, bicycles by Cannondale and Trek, and a Barbetta Sona amplified speaker.

This catalog highlights clothing and textiles as its central strength, while offering ceramics, decorative objects, toys, seasonal décor, memorabilia, and household collections that broaden its scope.
